AVL EXCITE

EXCITE is the perfect tool for durability and acoustic analysis of power units and drivelines. It has been chosen by the majority of engine manufacturers worldwide as their main platform for strength, durability and NVH simulations of power units.

With many years of experience in the field of engine development, AVL's software uses accurate and validated mathematical models to provide calculation results that are as realistic as possible. The solutions are highly application oriented for the analysis of complete systems and individual components with various modeling depth levels.

- AVL EXCITE Piston Rings
Stricter emission standards have caused the reduction of lube oil consumption to become a major task in the development of modern engines. Because the sealing effect of piston rings in reciprocating engines has a major impact on blow-by and lube oil consumption, an accurate calculation of piston ring dynamics is required for successful cylinder kit design. A number of programs enable trend calculations of piston ring dynamics and blow-by. With AVL EXCITE PistonRings, absolute values for inter-ring pressures, ring movement and blow-by, as well as reliable trends for lube oil consumption, proven in several projects, can be achieved.
- AVL EXCITE Power Unit
The crankshaft is one of the main engine components directly affected by the permanent demand for increased specific output of combustion
engines. In order to achieve reliable designs, simulation tools providing accurate results are required to analyze crankshaft dynamics behavior and durability. AVL EXCITE Power Unit has proven its ability to calculate results close to the real ones in many projects and when compared with experimental results. The use of two distinct categories of crankshaft 3D dynamic models is offered: either a condensed volumetric FE model obtained by combined static and dynamic reduction using commercial FE solvers or a novel modeling technique developed by AVL, the crankshaft structured model. For the latter a fully automated procedure for the model set up starting from CAD has been implemented.
- AVL EXCITE Timing Drive
This module of EXCITE Timing Drive creates new cam profiles right from the start and enables to optimize the valve train system by interactive modification of the profiles after dynamic evaluation of the system. An equivalent cam design model is automatically generated from the EXCITE Timing Drive simulation model. Three different theories for the creation of cam profiles are provided, thus covering all types of engines. For efficient modification of profiles, different methods are offered for this step of valve train design.
- AVL FIRE IMPRESS
The post-processor of AVL FIRE offers all functions required to monitor, visualize, analyze and present CFD simulation results.
