InnovMetric Software Inc., has released intermediate release the 2018 release of PolyWorks. This release empowers users to create and deliver shop-floor-ready inspection projects that are directly playable with any 3D measurement devices.

Intermediate Release 6:

General
- The Czech, Italian, Japanese, Polish, and Spanish user interfaces have been updated.
- New translated documents are available:
. Intermediate Release Notes has been updated in French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese, and Japanese.
. PolyWorks|Inspector Essentials CNC CMM has been updated in French.
Detailed information on installing translated documents is available through the Help > Reference Guides > About Translated Documentation menu item of the Workspace Manager.
- Issues with the IGES and STEP CAD model importers have been fixed.
PolyWorks|Inspector
- It is now possible to redefine the measured and/or nominal component of existing objects when importing GOM XML files using new import options. These options allow users to:
. Import or not import Data objects.
. Redefine the measured and/or nominal component of existing features and comparison points, or create new ones.
. Specify the component(s) that need to be redefined in objects that already exist in a project. The options are found on the new Objects > Import page of the PolyWorks|Inspector Options dialog box. Other import options that were previously found on the Objects page of PolyWorks|Inspector Options dialog box have been moved to the Objects > Import options page.
Fixed issues:
- An issue when using scan paths in cylindrical coordinate systems has been fixed.
- Issues when creating snapshots from control views have been fixed.
- Issues when selecting elements with the selectable faces set to Front Only have been fixed.
PolyWorks|Modeler
- The add-in used to import PolyWorks PWSF parametric sketch files into CATIA now supports CATIA V5-6 R2018. Note that this update is only available on 64-bit platforms.
- The add-in used to import PolyWorks PWSF parametric sketch files into Creo now supports Creo 5.0. Note that this update is only available on 64-bit platforms.
Portable metrology plug-ins
- The latest SDK has been integrated into the Nikon Metrology Laser Radar plug-in.
- The Faro Laser Tracker plug-in has been adapted to minimally support the 6Probe accessory used to acquire data with six degrees of freedom (position and direction). This improvement was introduced in IR5.
CMM plug-ins
When using the CNC CMM plug-in, a new item is offered that makes it possible to use the last location of a reference sphere that has already been defined and located, instead of manually reprobing the top of the sphere every time it is repositioned. This can be useful when the same reference sphere is used and positioned at the same location.
When the measurement method is set to CNC Probe, the new Reference sphere section, shown to the right, offers items related to the reference sphere. It is offered when:
- locating the reference sphere
- calibrating the probe head
- defining the device origin
Two list boxes are offered:
- The Name list box allows specifying the current reference sphere.
- The Initial position list box allows specifying whether or not a point will be manually probed on top of the specified reference sphere once it has been repositioned to its last location. Two choices are offered: Probe Point on Top (selected by default) or From Last Location.
